OUR LINK PHILOSOPHY:
The strongest argument I can give for exchanging link is for you to do a keyword search on Google for one of your prime keywords. Then look at how many links those that place higher than your site have. That's it. End of argument because the evidence is so compelling. You can believe all the stories about link farms, same-category, etc, etc, but those that have tons of links pointing to them will continue to outperform. To speak nothing of all the extra sales your link partners will bring you. We pay no attention to the Google PR except for those sites who's index or home page has a PR of 0 or worse yet is grey barred. Those we avoid. Other than that, PR is way over rated and we treat PR1 sites the same as PR 10 sites. Some folks for whatever weird reason place importance of the links page rating. We think that is silly since the links are from one home page to the other and the links page plays only a small role. Most of you folks have a 0 or 1 PR for your products page and don't think anything of it, but look at the links page as if it were some holy grail. Whatever. All you really need to do is look at what your competitors are doing. If they place much higher than you it's because you don't have enough links! Check it out. It's easy to make excuses for not linking, but it's very hard to ignore the fact that the competition is beating you and they do link. Some folks prefer to believe all the nonsense written about Google, PR and linking and will ignore the plain fact that their competitors don't believe the junk and do as many links as possible, and they ALWAYS outperform those that do few or no links. Discriminating on the basis of PR is silly and those that practice this only hurt themselves by reducing the number of links. Ever notice how some PR2 sites outperform PR6 sites on searches? Ever notice that? Links bring traffic, links bring sales. Excuses for not linking gain you nothing. Links are a free taxi ride to your place for shoppers looking to buy! We would rather not link with folks that play the PageRank game where they will only link to sites that have a higher PR or maybe will consent to linking with sites that have an equal PR. We consider these people unreliable, since they will probably dump links at a whim and selfish folks like that simply should not be dealt with. We don't need to deal with folks who crawl and step over others for a small and only hoped-for gain. The whole notion is so stupid, most stores will never get higher than a PR6 anyway, so people need to avoid these selfish clowns and just link for the sake of links. We feel we can get a very good PR and great traffic without stepping on people. http://www.joegrossinger.com/linkinfo.htm
Doing a Google search on the word PageRank (one word) will give you more than enough conflicting "information", rumors and straight facts to make your head spin. I can't see any purpose in crawling over people because of a rumor.
